Hogmanay 2009

IMGP2729.png

I journeyed to Scotland late Dec 2009, and was there until early Jan 2010. Some of the pictures are NOT very pretty because I was in "mill towns" such as Coatbridge (Grandmother lived there), Airdrie (Great grandparents), Motherwell (train station) and Newton train station in the dead of winter, but I do not care; I was in Scotland and that was enough. Some of the pictures are of pictures and I mean no copyright infringement. The pictures show how the streets on which my ancestors lived looked before renovations.

IMGP4326.png

Returned to Scotland in May 2010 for the Fèis IÌle on Islay. Stayed in Wishaw with some friends and did a bit of traveling around, including a return to Edinburgh, which I had visited in December 2009.

Scott Miller "in close"285 viewsA "close" is like a covered alley. Many exist in Dun Eideann (Edinburgh), and I saw at least one in Dumfries. Perhaps the most famous is Mary King's Close, in Dun Eideann (Edinburgh); http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_King's_Close
